Position Title: CCR Chemist

Job Overview
The job objective of the CCR Chemist is to produce good quality clinker by monitoring quality from raw material stage to the finished product with regards to efficiency and effectiveness. To monitor all quality control equipment with calibration where required. Relate with other customers and interested parties to avert quality violation
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with the quarry team in working out good mining plan quality wise base on quality existing data for raw mix simulation for raw mix pile design.
- Design raw mix using available raw material to simulate and advice quarry team on loading pattern.
- Run the crusher and the raw mill using the QCX software for material quality control and post analysis results on the ECS for process operation.
- Work and troubleshot the sample stations, receiving station and the sample transport lines for improved efficiency.
- Work with available raw material to produce good quality clinker for cement production using set internal parameters.
- Monitor cement production and the cement mill to produce CEM II AL 42.5N brand of cement by proportioning gypsum, limestone, off spec clinker and stock clinker usage to achieve desired internal set targets.
- Follow up with analysis and control of all raw material from suppliers to meet the companies set target and reject nonconforming good and product where necessary.
- Recommend improvement on existing methods, systems and work instructions
- Control the establishment of daily quality log sheet and data base records. This also include circulation of internal control data to other end users in production, quarry & maintenance departments.
- Control the proficiency, efficiency and effectiveness of the subordinates
- Monitor the on-line analyzer for improved efficiency.
- Drive the IMS ISO certification for the quality unit.
- Act as the PQES&WR (safety officer) to avert near misses and hazards within the department.
- Team leader for Raw material analyst, Quarry analyst and shift samplers.
- Strict adherence to plant test schedule.
- Relate site information to Process quality environment safety & water Resources team leaders
- Logical interpretation of analysis results and follow up advice for improved quarry raw material efficiency and clinker/cement production.
- Good record keeping both manually and online.
- Ensuring continued quality control for production of good quality clinker.
- Ensure zero quality issues from material supplied from the quarries by good planning, proper sampling schedule and speed of light advice to the quarry team to avert none conforming product supply to the plant.
- Ensuring prompt analysis of raw materials and circulated the result for the use of those concerns.
- Advising Quarry & production Department on blending ratio of various raw materials based on chemical analysis carried out to produce good quality cement.
- Advising on the quantity / blending ratio of limestone, laterites and iron ore to achieve target kiln feed and KFUI by ensuring kiln feed of fairly consistent chemistry.
- Ensuring safe practice of subordinate staff.
- Achieve zero customer complaint.
Qualification/Experience
- Good knowledge of quarry limestone history, cement chemistry and the relevant standards.
- Good knowledge of cement dry process.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft data processing (Word, Excel and power point)
- Good knowledge of Equipment operations (XRF X’, Lab X 8000, Cross belt analyzer and other laboratory equipment.) maintenance and calibration.
- Good knowledge and understanding of NIS 444-1-2018.
- Graduate degree in Science Lab tech, Chemistry or Applied science or chemical engineering with similar experience on the job with up to 5 years’ experience in cement plant.
- Must be organized and result oriented.
- Must be a team player and leader.
- Must have analytical mind.
- Ability to follow trends of events and initiative.
- Must have good technical background.
- Guiding and supervision skills.
- Good knowledge of Shift management.
- High level of problem solving to profound solutions to production and quality problems (human, equipment and material).
